Snell & Wilmer is a full-service law firm with more than 400
attorneys practicing in nine offices throughout the western United
States and Mexico. Snell & Wilmer traces its origins to 1938,
when Mark Wilmer joined Frank L. Snell, Jr., Riney Salmon, and
Charles Strouss, who had practiced together in Phoenix since 1934.
Snell frequently recounted the search that led to his partnership
with Mr. Wilmer; because Snell was "snowed under" by work and
needed help, he consulted the three members of Maricopa County's
Superior Court to identify the best trial lawyer in the state and
each named Wilmer, whom he had not yet met.
In the 1989, Snell & Wilmer began its expansion outside of
Phoenix, opening a Tuscon office and then shortly thereafter
merging with Tucson's largest firm, Bilby & Shoenhair. The
1990s saw the firm expanding outside of the Grand Canyon State,
opening offices in Orange County, California, and Salt Lake City,
Utah. By 2010 Snell & Widner had rounded out its current roster
of offices expanding to Denver, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Reno and
Los Cabos, Mexico.
