Lean Law Firm

Seyfarth's aim at being client focused has led the firm to recognize that one of the biggest challenges facing the legal services market today is the need to develop a common definition of "value" between law firms and their clients. In an effort to practice what they preach, Seyfarth has become the only large law firm to build a distinctive client service model, called SeyfarthLean, that combines the core principles of Lean Six Sigma with robust technology, project management, process improvement and practical tools.

Customized Career Paths

May 2017
FINRA Fight

In May 2017, Seyfarth successfully secured a complete defense verdict in a FINRA arbitration seeking over $68 million for C.L. King & Associates, Inc., a full-service investment bank and self-clearing broker-dealer, in one of the largest and most complex FINRA arbitrations involving a clearing firm in recent years. The Seyfarth litigation team was comprised of attorneys from the Boston and Chicago offices.

Summertime, and the Livings Is Easy

May 2017 brings a new diversity initiative to the New York office Summer Fellowship Program. The Seyfarth/MetLife Fellowship is an opportunity for law students from diverse backgrounds to gain exposure to a wider-range of law firm and in-house corporate legal experience. The 10-week paid fellowship program provides a first-year law student with unique, first-hand experience working alongside lawyers at Seyfarth's firm and MetLife's Legal Affairs organization in New York City.

Panoramic Views

Seyfarth Shaw's flagship Chicago office moved to the Willis Tower with an office design that encompasses the blues of Lake Michigan and the city grays to complement the views from the 80th floor office space. The firm had an eye on improving efficiency and making the best use of the square footage, but most significantly it was all about improving the firm's existing culture of collaboration.

You Know What's Cool? Billions.

Seyfarth Shaw's L&E trial aces won a $3.014 billion verdict. Hewitt Packard Enterprise Corp. had sued database software maker Oracle Corp. in 2011 for breach of contracts. The computer giant relied on Seyfarth attorneys Camille Olson and Richard Lapp to demonstrate to the court the damage Oracle's decision caused to its business. The result-a whopping $3.014 Billion jury verdict victory for HP and earning Seyfarth's employment litigators a spot among Law360's 2016 Practice Groups of the Year.
