The sense of favoritism and lack of transparency on firm governance and partnership.
First years: on campus interviews at NY law schools and callbacks to approximately 12 students in total. Callback interviews are with 4-5 attorneys, and occasionally second callbacks occur. Because we typically hire only one first year (and sometimes none), the process is competitive.
Laterals: we hire a few more laterals in the 2-4 years experience range. Not sure how competitve that process is, but we get high-caliber laterals usually from large law firms and with clerkship experience.
