Within the litigation group is Riddell Williams' consumer class action defense group, which works with regional and national clients in a variety of industries ranging from telecommunications to real estate. Fierce litigators can also be found in the firm's Labor & Employment group, which boasts expertise in areas like wage and hour law, trade secret litigation, and workplace safety regulations, as well as equal employment opportunity litigation and management/human resources advice. The Environmental and Natural Resources Group has experience in several niche areas including air quality, natural resource and public lands law, facilities siting projects, and Superfund cleanup. 

Riddell Williams has made a name for itself during its long history. The firm placed in Washington Law & Politics'lists of "Washington's Top 50 Law Firms," its Bankruptcy, Environmental, Intellectual Property and Labor & Employment practices have been ranked by Chambers,and its attorneys were named Best Lawyers in America in 2012 and 2013.

Diversity in the Northwest

Riddell Williams elected its first female managing partner, Lyn Tangen, in 1981, and the firm continues its commitment to diversity today. In 2009, the Washington Minority Bar Association's Law Firm Diversity Report found that among firms in the state, Riddell Williams had one of the highest percentages combined of minority, female, LGBT and individuals with disabilities in its summer associate class. The firm's Diversity Fellowship awards an amount of $7,500 during the academic year as well as a summer associate position to a 2L in order to promote firm-wide diversity.

In 2012, Riddell Williams made Working Mother and Flex-Time Lawyers list of the 50 Best Law Firms for Women in recognition of its family-friendly policies and initiatives to retain and develop female lawyers. The firm was honored by the Puget Sound Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators (PSALA) as one of two 2012 recipients of the Achievements in Diversity award, which is presented every other year to a law firm that has demonstrated exceptional achievements in diversity.
