About Quarles & Brady LLP

Milwaukee's second largest firm, Quarles & Brady has successfully combined its Midwestern roots with multi-region power through thriving litigation and bankruptcy practices.

Exciting Expansion

Quarles & Brady was formed from a 1974 merger of two longstanding Milwaukee practices, Brady, Tyrrell, Cotter & Cutler and Quarles, Herriott, Clemons, Teschner & Noelke. In 2000, the firm added to its bases in Illinois and Wisconsin by merging with Arizona's Streich Lang, opening offices in Phoenix and Tucson. The firm also has two offices in Florida. Most recently, in May 2014, the firm opened an Indianapolis office.

With practice areas in corporate services, environmental law, intellectual property, labor & employment, litigation & dispute resolution, real estate and others, the firm has landed recognizable clients such as the Harley-Davidson Motor Company, Miller Brewing Company and Wells Fargo Bank. The firm is strong in litigation--it has acted as defense counsel in massive class action and product liability suits involving asbestos, tobacco, tires, vaccines and forklifts. Quarles & Brady also has a thriving bankruptcy practice, which has handled airlines, casinos, resorts and dot-com companies gone bust.

Leader in Diversity

Recognized nationally and locally for its diversity initiatives, Quarles & Brady sponsors minority scholarships and internships and has a "Women in Leadership" program. The firm's chair, Kim Johnson, was ranked a "Top 50 Women Florida Super Lawyers" in 2013.

Strategic Alliances and Political Connections

Quarles & Brady is a member of United States Law Firm Group, a consortium of 18 mid-sized law firms. The firm has also forged an alliance with the Capitol Group, a Wisconsin lobbying firm. But its contact with legislators and policymakers doesn't stop there. Tony Earl, former Democratic governor of Wisconsin, is a retired partner of the firm. Wisconsin Democratic Congressman Ron Kind also once graced the halls of Quarles & Brady.

In addition to notable alumni, the firm is currently home to a political heavy hitter. Illinois State Senator Kwame Raoul is a member of the firm's Health Law Practice Group. He has extensive experience in higher education, labor and employment and litigation law. He has also represented local governmental entities in finance and other matters. Raoul has represented the 13th district since 2004 when he was appointed to fill the vacancy of then-U.S. Senator Barack Obama and, since then, has successfully advanced legislation promoting pension reform, economic development, domestic violence prevention and political reform. He currently serves as chairman of the Senate Pensions and Investment Committee and Senate Committee on Redistricting, as vice-chairman of the Senate Criminal Law Committee and on the Judiciary Financial Institutions Committees.
