Latham Diversity Scholars

We strive to improve the pipeline of diverse attorneys in the legal profession through a variety of initiatives. Through our Diversity Scholars Program, we award six second-year law students at ABA-accredited law schools a $10,000 non-renewable scholarship.

Latham Law Preview

Through the Latham & Watkins Law Preview Diversity Scholarship, we help students get off to a strong start during their first year of law school by attending Law Preview’s week-long law school preparation program.

Latham 1L Fellowship

In December 2015, we are excited to accept applications for the new Latham & Watkins 1L Fellowship Program which offers a unique summer employment opportunity for students who have just finished their first year of law school to gain valuable professional experience, mentoring and training early in their career.

Latham Diversity Leadership

In 2015 we will launch the Latham & Watkins Diversity Leadership Academy which brings together Latham attorneys from around the globe and talented law students from across the country for a weekend to celebrate diversity and discuss successful efforts and new opportunities to develop, mentor and empower the future leaders of the legal profession.

Latham SEO

We also partner with Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO) to host its interns in our offices.  SEO organizes internships for talented, underrepresented students of color who have been accepted to top law schools.

Our Commitment to Pro Bono

Pro bono is a hallmark of our firm culture. We award hour for hour credit for pro bono matters with no cap. In 2013, with more than 2,000 lawyers, paralegals, summer associates, trainees and professional staff in our offices across 14 countries participating in our program, Latham provided more than 191,000 hours of free legal services. Since 2000, Latham has provided more than US$950 million in free legal services to the disadvantaged and the nonprofit sector, totaling more than 2.4 million pro bono hours.
