Just a few decades old, Drew Eckl & Farnham is an
Atlanta-based firm with strengths in litigation and
insurance-related matters. With an outpost in Brunswick, Georgia
and more than 75 attorneys, the firm counsels financial
institutions, workers compensation groups, restaurants and, of
course, insurance companies.
Drew Eckl was founded in 1983 in Atlanta, and since then has
retained all of its name partners and nearly quadrupled in size.
Insurance-related litigation is the Drew Eckl's bread and butter,
but the firm also offers a wide variety of other practice areas
such as workers' compensation and a significant tort practice which
defends manufacturers, retailers and hospitals. The firm's main
departments include commercial law, construction litigation,
employment law, insurance matters, workers' compensation and
malpractice and healthcare litigation.
One of the more lucrative, and nauseating, cases the firm has
handled in recent years was representing plaintiff property owners
after a raw sewage leak in Atlanta contaminated residents' land.
The firm obtained a whopping $7.3 million jury verdict for their
clients. Hopefully after that the city kept a closer eye on its
sewer lines. In another sample victory, the firm cleared a roofing
contractor of liability after the house he had been working on
burned to the ground an hour after he left.
Coaching Client Coaches
In addition to unlucky roofers and grossed-out homeowners, Drew
Eckl's client roster includes companies like Hanover Insurance Co.,
Hartford Insurance Co., AT&T, Church Mutual Insurance Co.,
Speedway Motorsports, Swift Trucking, Emory University, Tyson Foods
and Ford Motor Company. Oh, and we can't forget Chick-fil-A, also
headquartered in Atlanta. The firm's professional athletes and
entertainment law department also represents coaching clients in
matters like job placement, negotiation, employment contracts and
commercial endorsements. Those services have benefited an NFL Coach
of the Year, several NCAA coaches of the year and Super Bowl
coaches, according to the firm.
Drew Eckl is also the only Georgia firm to have membership in
the Harmonie Group, a national association of law firms which do
work for the insurance industry, or, in alternative corporate
speak, the "risk industry." The Harmonie Group is invitation
