Diversified Client Opportunities

With 15 practice areas, almost as many industry-focused service areas and dozens of sub-practices, Benesch serves national and international clients that include public and private, middle market and emerging companies, as well as private equity funds, entrepreneurs, and not-for-profit organizations. Our ability to serve clients of all sizes and industries means that starting from year one, associates have opportunities to work on large client teams serving national, name brand clients. At the same time, they may be staffed on smaller matters that provide an opportunity to take the lead and grow your skill set under the direct mentorship of a partner.

Close-knit, supportive culture

Benesch is a close, caring, and collaborative firm where we treat each other like family. We work together and play together. We know each other and help each other to be the very best we can be, which optimizes our skills and efficiencies to best serve our clients. We invest in our lawyers and staff members, giving them a roadmap to success, with customized, one-on-one guidance and the tools they need to grow, thrive, and succeed. Our transparent leadership team hosts regular town hall meetings to foster open communication.

Seven offices, one firm

True to our culture, we operate our seven offices together as one firm. Clients and matter management often happens with teams of our lawyers across multiple office locations. Associates have the benefit of access to clients and matters across all Benesch offices, meaning they can gain experience working with a variety of clients and industries. In addition, they benefit from on-the-job learning, mentoring and relationship building with many attorneys across the firm.

Cultivating a culture of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Obtaining Mansfield Certification was an obvious goal for the firm, as diversity, equity and inclusion is woven into the fabric of our culture. We strive to make Benesch a place where individuals can bring their authentic self to work each day. We provide ongoing education to ensure our team members understand and appreciate different backgrounds and cultures and the positive impact diversity brings to the workplace. Our six Employer Resource Groups provide a platform for members of underrepresented groups to share ideas, collaborate, celebrate, and affect change. We have sustained consistent growth in diversity across all levels of the firm and were recently recognized by Law360 as the leading firm in the industry for ethnic diversity, doubling our footprint in this space from 2022 to 2023.

Associate Development Committee: By Associates, For Associates

Our Associate Development committee is made up of associates across various offices, practice groups, and experience levels. The committee has a direct line of communication to the firm’s Executive Committee to share associates’ thoughts and perspectives, helping to create and drive initiatives to enhance the Benesch associate experience. From professional development to programming to pro bono and beyond, the members of the ADC have a platform to help shape the associate experience and the culture of the firm. With four working subcommittees, all associates are welcome to take an active role in the ADC, starting on day one.

Community Involvement and Volunteerism

Benesch is committed to pro bono and dozens of charitable causes. Every team member is afforded a paid volunteer day annually, and our Associate Development Committee’s Civic Engagement subcommittee plans local volunteer days and charitable drives. We are proud of our ongoing medical-legal partnership with University Hospitals and Legal Aid, which provides a Benesch-sponsored lawyer on-site at the hospital, giving access to legal services to an under-resourced community.
