At Baker Botts, we foster a culture where our lawyers take great pride in their fundamental legal skills, where all of our lawyers are expected to be practicing lawyers with consummate expertise in their particular discipline. We strive to provide an environment where our lawyers can fully apply their wide-ranging legal skills and excel in the substantive areas of their particular practice.

We are proud of our heritage, which encompasses over 175 years. Our heritage and our reputation of providing excellent lawyering decade after decade have afforded us the privilege of working on some of the most fascinating legal matters in the country. This heritage creates an unusual sense of stewardship in our firm, and ensures that lawyers and staff alike look at generations past and consider future generations when making decisions about our practice.

Summer Program

Baker Botts’ Summer Associate Program provides real experience working for the firm’s clients under the supervision of experienced lawyers and with the support of a strong mentoring program.

We encourage our summer associates to consider different areas of practice during the summer program. A team of partners and associates will be your advisors — guiding your projects, offering feedback on your work product, introducing you to other lawyers and answering questions. Through this process, you’ll get exposure to more people and practice areas sooner and discover what Baker Botts is really all about.

During the Summer Program, the firm provides you with many opportunities to learn through our excellent training and to meet our lawyers and gain a better understanding of our heritage and culture. Some of these opportunities include:

  • Baker Weekend: Summer associates and lawyers from all of our U.S. offices come together for an engaging weekend of social events and training. The weekend includes panel discussions, presentations and department-specific breakout sessions that provide valuable insight into our culture, practices and management

  • Communications & Writing Skills Workshops

  • Ethics Training

  • Mock Trial & Mock Oral Argument Exercises
