PJT Partners Restructuring: Come here for attractive exit opportunities, good compensation, and to learn about the world of distress

4.9 of 5 stars

Entry-level in Restructuring | New York, NY | 2017 | VERIFIED EMPLOYEE

Uppers

Strong exit opportunities to hedge funds, comparatively more interesting work than M&A, competitive compensation, good group culture

Downers

Though the hours are better in Restructuring than most investment banking roles, there is little emphasis placed on preserving analysts' free time during weekends if work does come up. Things that can wait until Monday are asked to be finished immediately, though these instances are rare.

Comments

The factors that attract most of the analysts to this group are (1) strong exit opportunities (particularly to distressed and long/short hedge funds), (2) analytical/technical nature of the Restructuring analyst's role, and (3) attractive compensation

Entry-level in Mergers & Acquisitions | San Francisco, CA | 2017 | VERIFIED EMPLOYEE

Uppers

Compensation; Exit Opportunities; Opportunity to work with extremely senior bankers on a regular basis; client interactions; large-cap, complex deals

Downers

Hours can be inconsistent

Comments

Pretty much the best, alongside Evercore, for whatever you want to do after banking (or for staying in banking). Senior comp is better than EVR, and hours are the best on the street.
