The Executive Office of the State of Iowa ensures the
administration and execution of state laws for its some 3 million
residents. The governor, head of the executive branch and elected
for a four-year term, makes the final decision on all bills passed
by the Iowa Senate and House of Representatives. Among the state
agencies that make up the executive branch are the Department of
Natural Resources, Department of Cultural Affairs, Department of
Public Health, and Department of Economic Development.
