3.0 of 5 stars

June 2017 | FORMER EMPLOYEE

Uppers

Technology forward. Always keeps up with the most up to date technology available

Downers

Growth and learning opportunities are there but not easy to attain.

Advice to Candidates

Overall a good company to work for, but depending on department/team structure can be different compared to the company as whole

Summer law clerk

4.0 of 5 stars

January 2017 | FORMER EMPLOYEE

Uppers

I spent a summer as a law clerk in the home office legal department. That have a competitive
hiring process, with several hundred applications and in my year only seven positions. However, the interview process consisted of only one round with the manager of the program. The summer itself was great. There was a lot of substantive work to do and excellent exposure to the operations of a Fortune 100 company. It offered good insight into the life of an inhouse lawyer. There were also a lot of great, structured panels and discussions planned to build knowledge of the insurance industry. Plus a mentoring programmed that matched each clerk with a senior attorney.

Downers

The pay is not anywhere near what you would get at a firm. Also, there was no chance of an offer for a permanent position since they did not hire out of law school. But they at least were very upfront about that.

Advice to Candidates

Be enthusiastic about wanting to be there and try to stand out as a smart, hard worker. I think the most important part is to be able informed enough to express an interest in insurance law and/or in house work. Or if you're interested in a particular group, like the compliance or litigation, speak to that.

-----test Insurance company ever

1.0 of 5 stars

February 2016 | CURRENT EMPLOYEE

Uppers

Have not yet realized of any uppers. Overall a worst company you can find.

Downers

The company does no know their business, what should they do, what they shouldn't. They don't have a standardized process of doing their job.

Employees are not well educated and rude. It is very possible for you to get pissed off, if you find yourself have to talk to any of them.

Advice to Candidates

If you are someone with no education and ready to piss your client off, go ahead. You can find a lot people like you.

If you are well educated and want a happy life, get away from it.

Associate Business Analyst

October 2015 | FORMER EMPLOYEE

Uppers

Great company to work for. Aggressive compensation and they like to hire from within.

Downers

The position was not on the asset side of the business.

Advice to Candidates

This is a great company to gain experience and move up to higher level postions.

Too much work

2.0 of 5 stars

September 2015 | FORMER EMPLOYEE

Uppers

Good benefits and fun office perks, like ice cream days and baseball games.

Downers

They overwork everyone in every department. They have an assembly line style work process, which results in no one really understanding how to do their job.

Advice to Candidates

The legal department is not a good place to work as they constantly are threatening to shut it down and outsource all their legal work to outside firms. Legal and claims department both assign their employees overwhelming amounts of work.

Liberty Mutual Poor Customer Service

1.0 of 5 stars

June 2015 | FORMER EMPLOYEE

Uppers

None to speak of except that they cash the premium checks right away.

Downers

Poor customer service. They do not care about their customers. They will spend more time and effort to not pay claim then to just do the right thing.

Advice to Candidates

Work there if you do not have business ethics or common sense and you do not care how customers are treated.
