Dead battery? Would that be the battery on your car or cell phone? Either way, Asurion assures that you won't be stranded. A global leader in wireless and technology insurance, Asurion replaces defunct cell phones and other tech equipment, but also provides specialty services such as roadside assistance to stranded motorists via their wireless phones. The firm serves about 95 million end users through partnerships with wireless carriers including Cricket, T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T Mobility. In 2008 Asurion merged with extended service plan provider, N.E.W. Customer Service Companies. Both companies continue to operate independently.
Asurion operates about 25 customer contact centers mainly in the US but also in Canada, the UK, and Asia.
Sales and Marketing
Asurion offers insurance for wireless phones and their content (even allowing users to erase content from a phone that has been stolen). The company also offers insurance for home computers, TVs, and home phones. Its services are offered over the phone and in the home (as in its technical support staff makes house calls).
The company has recently added Clear, Walmart, Time Warner Cable, and Metro PCS to its network of providers. In 2012 Asurion developed a handset and device protection plan, Rogers Device Protection, for Rogers Communications, Canada’s leading diversified communications and media company.
In 2010 the company began offering Time Warner Cable Road Runner Mobile customers with an equipment protection program. Time Warner is the second largest cable operator in the US.
