Fufilling and Rewarding Career

5.0 of 5 stars

April 2017 | CURRENT EMPLOYEE

Uppers

Great Benefits.
Room for Advancement.
Opportunity to serve our Nations veterans

Downers

Internal resources are conducive to set policies and government budgets.

Advice to Candidates

In some positions at the VA hospital it is hard to advance unless you change fields. There are many positions in numerous fields inside of the Veterans Administration so changing career fields is great.

Many big trade off's

September 2015 | CURRENT EMPLOYEE

Uppers

The hours are great, tons of time off and the benefits package is pretty good. Tons of PTO and easy to use PTO.

Downers

Leadership is dysfunctional and feedback can blow up in your face. Very tricky environment to work in if you want to do anything more than patient care.

Advice to Candidates

The work itself is interesting, and to have the vast clinical resources of the VA just a click a way is very nice. No need to spend time googling around for the pt's address to find the nearest lab and pharmacy. VHA needs ground up redesign, but this would take billions of dollars and over a decade of time to roll out.
