About National Security Agency

Established in 1952, the National Security Agency (NSA) is the world leader in cryptology - the art and science of making and breaking codes. NSA's goal is to protect and defend U.S. government IT systems to keep classified or sensitive information safe, and to exploit information derived from foreign adversaries for intelligence and counterintelligence purposes. NSA is both a member of the Department of Defense (DoD) and an Intelligence Community (IC) agency.
