Royal Appliance wants you to make a deal with the Devil. The company makes the popular Dirt Devil canister, hand, stick, and upright vacuums. It also markets flooring shampooers, accessories, and replacement parts under the Dirt Devil name and manufactures vacuum cleaners under the brands Regina and Royal (which offers both household and commercial products). Royal Appliance's floor care products are sold through mass merchandisers (such as Kmart and Wal-Mart) and independent dealers. In addition, the company's Privacy Technologies subsidiary makes TeleZapper, a phone attachment that blocks telemarketing calls. Royal Appliance itself is a subsidiary of Hong Kong-based power tool maker Techtronic Industries.
The company has been part of Techtronic's floor care division since it was acquired in 2003. Other vacuum brands organized into this division include the iconic Hoover and internationally recognized Vax (marketed in Europe, the Middle East, Hong Kong, and Australia); home health care products maker Medisana is also part of the floor care unit.
Royal Appliance maintains operations in Ohio and California. It was founded in 1905, making it one of the world's oldest manufacturers of vacuum cleaners.
