Lasko Products makes household items that keep the air -- cool, hot, humid, or otherwise -- moving for its customers. Founded in 1906, Lasko Products is a top portable fan maker that operates several manufacturing plants in the US and distributes its wares internationally. The company's products include indoor and outdoor electric fans, humidifiers, space heaters, utility boxes, and even Christmas tree stands. Through the company's Canadian subsidiary Air King, it also makes ventilating products such as bath fans, kitchen range hoods, and humidifiers that are sold throughout North America. The family-run firm is led by CEO Oscar Lasko and his son William Lasko as president.
Sustaining a relatively large blow, Lasko Products in early 2011 received notice from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission that it had recalled about 4.8 million box fans made by the fan manufacturer, citing that an electrical failure in the fan's motor can pose a fire hazard. The move was spurred by a handful of reports the commission received of fires associated with motor failures. The recall pinpoints US-made fans that were sold through mass merchandisers nationwide from July 2002 through December 2005.
