Burlen knows its business from the bottom up. The company makes ladies' private-label lingerie and underwear. Burlen's collections, manufactured primarily in the Far East and the Caribbean, are sold through mass merchandisers and specialty retailers nationwide. Wal-Mart, which has done business with Burlen since the 1960s, is its largest customer. The company was acquired by Israeli-based Delta Galil, a global apparel firm, in 2004 as a way to further increase its lingerie sales in the mass marketplace and improve its branding in the US.
