About the Company

The Hershey Company is one of the most iconic candy companies in the United States. Founded by Milton Hershey, the company came to be after a lot of hard work, trial and error, and committed passion. Milton Hershey entered the confectionary world at just 14 years old as an apprentice for Joseph Royer in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. After four years with the master confectioner, Milton headed to Philadelphia to begin his first candy business. Ultimately, that first attempt failed and went bankrupt. His next endeavor took him to Denver, where he learned the art of making caramels with fresh milk. This new candy skill lead to the founding the Lancaster Caramel Company in 1886.
