Bryan Johnson founded Braintree in 2007 and appointed Bill Ready as its CEO. After acquiring Venmo in 2012, Braintree itself was acquired by PayPal. In 2015, PayPal merged Braintree’s product offerings with those of Modest, another mobile commerce company.
