Sage Software caters to businesses that appreciate the wisdom of planning. The company (which does business as Sage North America) is the North American subsidiary of UK-based software developer The Sage Group plc. Sage North America provides small and midsized companies with a variety of business management applications focused on such functions as accounting, customer relationship management, not-for-profit and government management, human resources and fixed asset management, and contact management. The company also provides industry-specific applications for customers in fields that include construction, real estate, and health care.
Sage North America is organized into three main divisions: Sage Business Solutions, Sage Payment Solutions, and Sage Healthcare.
Business Solutions, which saw a year-over-year revenue decline of 3% in 2010, is focused on launching new ERP (enterprise resource planning) products for the midsized market and promoting accounting tools for entry-level companies. Revenues were flat year over year for Payment Solutions, which is concentrating on integration with other Sage products for cross-selling opportunities. After weathering a year-over-year revenue decline of 5%, the Healthcare division is targeting its efforts on the Intergy product, software that provides clinical financial, reporting, and communications services.
As a whole, Sage Software's primary products include its Peachtree suite of small business accounting software, ACT! sales contact management applications, its SalesLogix customer relationship management tools, and Accpac ERP. Following the practice of its parent company, the company will replace individual brand names with the overall Sage brand by 2013.
Sage North America claims a customer base of more than 3 million users. North America accounts for 38% of sales for its parent, which has included the region among the sectors targeted for strategic focus.
