About Dassault Systemes Simulia Corp.

Dassault Systèmes Simulia Corp. (doing business as SIMULIA) helps mechanical engineers simulate product design tests to save time and money in the lab. Its engineering analysis software simulates the physical response of structures and solid bodies to load, temperature, contact, impact, and other stresses before a physical prototype is built. Abaqus, its finite element analysis (FEA) software suite, is used in the aerospace, automotive, consumer goods, and manufacturing industries, among others. The company also provides engineering, legal, technical consulting, and training services. Clients have included paper and plastic manufacturer AMCOR and automaker Renault. Simulia is a subsidiary of Dassault Systèmes.

The company sells and supports its products from about 30 offices in the Americas, Europe, and Asia-Pacific regions. Dassault Systèmes Simulia also relies on a network of distributors and systems integrators to deliver its applications.

The company was founded in 1978 as Hibbitt, Karlsson & Sorensen, but later changed its name to Abaqus. It was acquired by French software company Dassault Systèmes in 2005 for about $413 million in cash. Its name was changed in 2007 to Dassault Systèmes Simulia.
