Need a copy machine? Meet Kyocera Document Solutions America (formerly Kyocera Mita America). The company sells printers, fax machines, and combination machines to offices in the US. It offers about 70 different printer models, including wide-format, ranging from desktop-size to floor-standing models. The company also provides document management software and support services. From five US locations and with distribution out of Memphis, it sells directly and through more than 400 independent dealers and resellers to enterprise and public sectors clients. Kyocera Document Solutions America is the US arm of Kyocera Document Solutions, a subsidiary of electronic equipment and component manufacturing giant Kyocera.
Kyocera Document Solutions America support services include document creation and output, document management, security and compliance, and network and device management. Among its more recent integrated software offerings is the Kyocera Teaching Assistant created for education customers. It focuses on creating, grading, and analyzing bubble-sheet test forms.
In 2011 it created a global services division to drive product innovation and more actively identify growth opportunities through operational and product synergies.
The company's National and Government Accounts Division specializes in serving state and federal government agencies and corporations. Products that require more enhanced security features began offering the addition of API Cryptek's Netgard data security devices in 2010.
Looking to expand its sales channels in the US, the company has, since 2008, bought six wholesalers and one software firm. Allister Business Systems, Duplitron Massachusetts, Duplitron New Jersey, Internetworking Innovations, One Stop Business Centers, and Velocity Imaging Products all resell copiers and office equipment, mostly in the Northeast. Kyocera Mita America also purchased digital imaging software intellectual property and assets from Peerless Systems for $37 million in 2008.
