Crossbeam Systems lays the foundation for application network security. The company's X-Series software and hardware platform enables customers to manage different security applications from a single unit by consolidating firewall, virtual private network (VPN), intrusion detection, network gateways, and other functions. The platform is certified for applications from vendors such as IBM, Check Point, and Sourcefire. The X-Series is capable of security application processing speeds of up to 140 Gbps. Its customers have included AT&T, GlaxoSmithKline, Volkswagen, and H&R Block. Blue Coat Systems acquired Crossbeam in late 2012.
Change in Company Type
Blue Coat and Crossbeam are both portfolio companies of private equity firm Thoma Bravo. The 2012 transaction brought together two market leaders that deliver complementary technologies to scale and secure some of the world's largest and most complex networks.
Crossbeam has offices in the Asia-Pacific region, Europe, Latin America, and North America.
Sales and Marketing
Crossbeam's partners in North America include Accuvant, Integralis, and MTS Allstream. In Europe its partners include BT, Hewlett Packard, and Telefonica O2 Czech Republic.
The company's strongest presence is in the US and Europe, but it also has been growing its cache of sales partnerships in Asia/Pacific and South America. Partners added in Brazil in 2011 included system integrators BlackBull Network and Contacta, and value added distributor CLM, while Asia Pacific brought in Netpoleon, a value added distributor in South East Asia. Crossbeam broadened its global reach further in 2011 with the creation of a joint venture with Russian Telecom Equipment. The venture gives Crossbeam a partner in Russia that can help its platform meet government requirements.
