Love my office, compensation is pretty good, with great bonus potential. Very intelligent peers and managers, exposure to a lot of different things is strong.

Downers

no work life balance, sometimes nearly impossible expectations, very inflexible work schedules.

A firm that pretends to respect you but really does not at all

Working with smart people.

Downers

Being treated as an expendable resource not worth developing.

Comments

Understand that the only value you will really get is in the name. Your deal experience can vary widely (but be very good) and you will be ground into dust. Your comp may not be there as they like to play games. It will open doors to opportunities you might never have had otherwise.

Great culture and very smart people. Growing company that is naturally hedged because of its restructuring and M&A/valuation businesses and does not have a S&T desk. Great pay and upward mobility for top performers.

Downers

Despite IPO, HL is still relatively unknown. The common non-finance person has rarely heard of the company.

Comments

If you want to get hired laterally or you're not coming out of one of the top business schools, use your network to find current employees who work for HL because rarely does a non-target school applicant get hired without knowing someone.

Thank you everyone at Houlihan for a rewarding, growing experience

You are given as much responsibility as you can take on From analyst to managers, people are fantastic Leadership really cares

Downers

Follow your heart. If you want to do investment banking, this is a great place but it is significant work and you should want to do this
