U.S. Trust - mixed bag in private banking

Uppers

Mostly great people who are smart, hard-working and care about clients.
Top brand in private banking,despite losing some cache with Bank of America owning it.
Full and flexible investment platform.


Downers

All money goes towards hiring new salespeople rather than retention or rewarding talented trust and investment personnel. No training program or advancement opportunities.


Comments

PCAs are paid well but often are a revolving door. Trust and Investment staff are underpaid and overwhelmed with multiple and overlapping systems for monitoring, reviewing and submitting comments on accounts, all driven by compliance. Absolutely no training or way for young people to join, learn and advance.
