Hachette Book Group (HBG) goes by the book. Part of Hachette Livre, it includes book publisher Little, Brown and hardcover, mass market, and trade paperback publisher Grand Central Publishing. Other imprints include FaithWords (religious books) and Center Street (for mainstream America). HBG best sellers have included books by Malcolm Gladwell (The Tipping Point), Stephenie Meyer (Twilight), and Jon Stewart and the Daily Show writers (Earth: The Book). The company also embraces the future through Hachette Digital Media, which publishes e-books and apps based on Grand Central and Little, Brown works. HBG was formed in 2006 when French media firm Lagardère acquired Time Warner Book Group and renamed it.
The company operates in the US from offices in New York, Boston, Nashville, and Lebanon, Indiana. It's Toronto, Canada office houses marketing subsidiary Hachette Book Group Canada.
HBG publishes an average of about 800 adult books, 200 young adult and children's books, and 300 audio book titles each year. The company also acts as a distributor for third-party publishers such as Chronicle Books, Disney Book Group, and Harry N. Abrams.
Hachette Book Group publishes science fiction and fantasy titles through its Orbit publishing group, while its Yen Press is devoted to graphic novels and manga. Its Digital Media Division's e-books accounted for more than 20% of revenues at HBG in 2012. The digital group also includes Hachette Audio's audiobooks from its published works that are available on CD or as downloads.
In 2014 the company formed a distribution partnership with Quercus. The deal lets HBG handle North American Sales and distribution of all printed and digital Quercus produstc.
HBG formed its Digital Media group to handle e-books. As the world has gone increasingly digital, the division has grown to include Hachette Audio's audiobooks, multimedia enhanced e-books, and apps.
