Through about 30 subsidiaries, Bowmer & Kirkland offers commercial and residential construction, civil engineering, property development, and homeland security services. It specializes in building supermarkets (Tesco) and other retail projects (Primark) throughout the UK, as well as office, educational, industrial, health care, and hospitality projects. The family-run, privately-owned Bowmer & Kirkland was founded in 1923 by the grandfather of chairman John Kirkland. Among its businesses are units for structural steelwork fabrication, industrial roofing and cladding systems, HVAC control systems, mechanical and engineering services, and interiors and decorating.
Bowmer & Kirkland is continuously growing and looking to diversify its portfolio of companies. One of the newest additions to the Bowmer & Kirkland Group is a homeland security and public safety division. Through Soncell International the company provides communication equipment, secure transmission, and other security products in the US, UK, and Middle East.
Diversity is key to success for Bowmer & Kirkland, which has traditionally relied heavily on the construction business. However, the down economy injured the construction market. In order to endure the challenging market Bowmer & Kirkland launched joint ventures in order to secure additional construction work.
