Trans States operates as AmericanConnection for American Airlines from a hub in St. Louis, and it operates as US Airways Express from a hub in Pittsburgh for US Airways. It also provides regional service for United Airlines as United Express from hubs in Chicago, Denver, and Washington, DC. Overall, Trans States Airlines operates a fleet of about 50 Embraer 50-seat regional jets. The company was founded in 1982 as Resort Air; it bought regional carrier Compass Airlines from Delta in mid-2010 for $20.5 million.
