Phillips Foods wants to fill you up. In the business of processing crab since 1916, family-run Phillips Foods makes a line of value-added seafood products, including crabmeat and crab cakes, that are sold to restaurants and food distributors. The firm also offers spices, sauces, condiments, soups and frozen seafood appetizers and entrees for retail sale in grocery stores nationwide. Begun in 1956, the company's restaurant business boasts about two dozen seafood locations along the Eastern Seaboard that operate under such names as Phillips Seafood House and Phillips Crab House. Phillips also runs about 20 seafood buffets, express locations, and airport outlets -- some of them through franchise agreements. 

To meet demand for its crabmeat products year-round, the company owns a number of production operations overseas to ensure a steady supply of crabs. Seeing declines in the supply of Chesapeake Bay crabs found in Massachusetts, Phillips Foods extended its reach to Southeast Asia for its abundance of blue swimming crabs. Phillips Foods is one of the largest importers of pasteurized crabmeat in the US. The company has some 20 plants in the US, Ecuador, Mexico, Indonesia, India, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The company's restaurants are located in Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, North and South Carolina, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC. It also operates the Phillips Beach Plaza Hotel, located on the boardwalk in Ocean City, Maryland. In 2010 Phillips shuttered its lone By the Sea restaurant there.
