When farmers cooperate, society benefits. Through its seven centers in northwest Iowa, Farmers Cooperative Society offers its member/farmers a full range of agricultural growing and marketing products and services, including crop-storage facilities and business consulting. Its feedlot, with room for some 5,500 head of cattle, helps members buy and care for feeder cattle, and provides discounts on grain for members. The co-op also operates a member-only How-To Building Store in Sioux Center, Iowa, that sells hardware, lawn-care products, lumber, and paint, as well as brand-name home appliances. Farmers Cooperative Society has roots dating back to 1907.
To provide the right product for its members, the co-op's How-To Building store uses over 40 suppliers, such as Andersen, CertainTeed, Toro, and Weber-Stephen Products. The co-op also sells pork producers with products through suppliers like AP, Valco, and Chore-time. The co-op also supplies pork producers through suppliers, such as AP, Valco, and Chore-time.
