SAFRAN USA (formerly Snecma USA) operates on the fly. The holding company coordinates parent SAFRAN's operations, serving aircraft and industrial parts makers throughout Canada, Mexico, and the US. SAFRAN USA operates some 35 companies in some 60 locations in more than 20 US states. Its lineup includes commercial and military aircraft engines, aircraft braking and landing systems, and navigation systems for submarines. Subsidiary MorphoTrust USA offers biometric and identification management products and services to federal, state, and local governments and commercial markets. When SAFRAN USA's former parent Snecma was acquired by SAFRAN, Snecma USA was renamed SAFRAN USA.
Operating more than 1,200 services centers throughout the US, MorphoTrust's products and services are focused specifically on the needs of the US market.
Some 20% of parent company SAFRAN's work force is located in the US.
Sales and Marketing
SAFRAN USA customer base includes the federal, state, and local governments, all branches of the armed forces, and high-profile private sector companies
Customers have included the FBI and Department of Defense (its largest customer). Its aerospace customers include Labinal, Messier-Bugatti-Dowty, Sagem, Snecma and Turbomeca. Its largest company client is Boeing.
The company is focused on expanding its presence in North America through new construction, joint ventures, and acquisitions.
In 2013 SAFRAN USA expanded its presence in Cincinnati, Ohio by opening a new office.
Mergers and Acquisitions
Reinforcing its electrical energy chain expansion strategy, in 2014 SAFRAN acquired the Aerospace Power Distribution Management Solutions and Integrated Cockpit Solutions business of Eaton.
In 2012 SAFRAN's Morpho Detection unit, which provides explosives and narcotics detection technology, won an order from the US Transportation Security Administration for maintenance of Morpho Itemiser DX desktop explosives trace detection units, which are used at airport checkpoints, checked baggage and air cargo screening points, and other security-sensitive sites.
