L-3 Avionics Systems helps pilots straighten up and fly right while avoiding lightning, other planes, and mountains. A division of L-3 Communications, L-3 Avionics designs and manufactures cockpit avionics for general aviation, air transport, business jet, and military industries. Offerings include collision avoidance, terrain awareness, digital transceivers for navigation and communication, and weather mapping systems. L-3 also provides spare parts and product repair and maintenance services and has four US locations. The company was founded in 1962 as Learjet Avionics, a unit of the Learjet Corporation. In April 2008 the company sold its JET Autopilot product line to Butler National.
