Financial Performance

The company reported about $7.1 billion in revenue for fiscal 2013. That was an increase of $166 million, or 2.4%, compared to fiscal 2012 when Interpublic brought in $6.95 billion in revenue.

Net income decreased during fiscal 2013 compared to fiscal 2012, largely due to increased salary expenses. Net cash from operating activities during fiscal 2013 was $592.9 million, which was an increase of $235.7 million compared to the previous fiscal period, primarily as a result of an improvement in working capital usage offset by a decrease in net income.


Over the years Interpublic's growth strategy has involved acquisitions and acquiring controlling stakes in emerging markets. Interpublic integrates acquisitions into its global network of existing agencies. Many of its purchases include firms specializing in digital and social media, healthcare communications, and public relations.

Mergers & Acquisitions

In 2012 Interpublic improved its position in the important European market when it obtained Nicole Weber Communications (NWC), a consumer lifestyle agency with offices in Hamburg and Munich. Also in 2012, Interpublic acquired UK-based digital and interactive agency FUSE. Both NWC and FUSE were added to the company's GolinHarris network.
