If a cure for the common cold is ever discovered, Ogilvy CommonHealth Worldwide could help publicize it. A division of UK-based advertising giant WPP Group, Ogilvy CommonHealth provides advertising, marketing, market research, strategic planning, and media services primarily for customers in the health care industry. It operates through almost 65 offices spanning more than 35 countries around the globe. Ogilvy CommonHealth Worldwide was formed in mid-2010 when WPP combined two of its former health care marketing networks: CommonHealth and Ogilvy Healthworld.
Matt Giegerich, the former president and CEO of CommonHealth, was tapped as newly created Ogilvy CommonHealth Worldwide's chairman and CEO. The deal created a powerhouse in its industry, integrating Ogilvy Healthworld's international expertise (along with the prestige associated with the Ogilvy brand name) with CommonHealth's proficiency in the US market.
