Huntsworth has four operating businesses: Huntsworth Health, Citigate, Grayling and Red.

Huntsworth Health is a group of communications agencies serving the science and health and wellbeing industries. It accounts for around 45% of revenue.

Citigate operates in the corporate and financial space, offering media relations, crisis communications, investor relations, research, public policy and digital communications. It has offices in the UK, the US, Europe and Asia, and accounts for over 10% of group revenue.

Grayling, accounting for over 35% of group revenue, does PR for customers in sectors including Consumer Brands, Technology, Energy, Healthcare, Financial Services, Transport & Logistics and Governments.

Red Consultancy offers multi-specialist, consumer-focused communications consultancy, active in Corporate, Technology, Healthcare and Digital sectors. Clients include Spotify, Boots, Emirates and Samsung. It accounts for under 10% of total group sales.

Geographic Reach

The company operates 63 offices in 29 countries.

Sales and Marketing

Key clients include Crest Nicholson, Heathrow Airport, SlimFast, Listerine, and Royal Caribbean cruises. Over half of its total sales come from companies listed on the FTSE 100, Fortune 500, FTSEurofirst300, or Top 50 Pharma Companies.

Financial Performance

In 2015, sales climbed for the first time in five years, up 2% to £168.4 million on the back of new and expanded client relationships in Huntsworth Health: revenue from its top five accounts increased by nearly half to £29.4 million. Red Consultancy also saw positive growth, as major new customers launched notable advertising campaigns, such as McDonald's Signature range of burgers, the 2016 edition of mega-selling videogame Call of Duty, and Molson Coors' Brighton or Barbados campaign for its Carling brand. Revenue from Citigate and Grayling declined.

The company incurred a net loss for the year of £39.4 million, although this was reduced 30% on prior year. The improvement was due to lower operating expenses. Cash flow from operating activities came in 14% lower at £12.1 million.


Hunstworth undertook restructuring to add some spring to its bottom line, and was rewarded in 2016 by a 16% uplift in profits. It was able to increase margins in three of its four businesses.
