A full service agency, Dentsu America (formerly DCA Advertising) provides branding and marketing services through offices in New York City and Palo Alto, California. The company is a subsidiary of global advertising conglomerate and #1 ad firm in Japan, Dentsu. Dentsu America has provided integrated marketing, including print and television campaigns, for diverse clients including imaging systems manufacturer Canon U.S.A., New York University's medical center, international aid organization UNICEF, India's Department of Tourism, publisher HarperCollins, and car maker Toyota.
Dentsu America acquired New York ad boutique McGarry Bowen in late 2008. Well known in Japan, the McGarry Bowen purchase beefs up Dentsu's presence in the US. McGarry Bowen got a boost in early 2009 when the firm inherited clients including Sharp Electronics when DentsuNext, a former Dentsu subsidiary, was shuttered in the aftermath of losing its $100 million contract with automaker American Suzuki. McGarry Bowen's clients have included Crayola, Chevron, and The Wall Street Journal.
In 2007 Dentsu America bought another small ad house, Attik, the San Francisco-based firm that launched Toyota's Scion brand.
