This alphabet soup of advertising begins here. As the flagship agency of media conglomerate Omnicom Group, BBDO Worldwide offers creative development services for some of the world's top brands using television, print, and other media. BBDO Worldwide also provides campaign planning and management services, as well as other brand promotion services. The firm's Atmosphere BBDO unit offers interactive marketing services in North America. BBDO's clients have included such heavy hitters as Chrysler, FedEx, and PepsiCo (including the famous "Pepsi Generation" campaign). It operates through some 290 offices in about 80 countries, featuring outposts like Abbott Mead Vickers, Barefoot Proximity, and Proximity London.
Due to the ailing automotive industry, BBDO was forced to close its BBDO Detroit office in January 2010 as a result of that office losing Chrysler as its only major client.
BBDO Worldwide is growing in other areas, though. In late 2010, it created Batten & Company, a consulting subsidiary that helps clients understand the always revolving pattern of consumer behavior and the way in which their brands interact with customers.
The agency has also been making a major push in India in recent years, opening several offices there. Clients of BBDO India include PepsiCo's 7UP brand and Hewlett Packard, the latter of which BBDO India won away from rival Publicis' India unit. BBDO Worldwide also has a stake in RK Swamy/BBDO, a local Indian ad agency. In 2010, BBDO launched interactive agency Proximity India.
BBDO traces its origins to 1891. It became Batten, Barton, Durstine & Osborn in 1928, hence the BBDO acronym.
