Solid - Not the best, Not the Worst - NYC Office

3.0 of 5 stars

- The people that you will be working with makes the days go by quicker
- Firm tries to be inclusive
- Work life balance is very manageable

Downers

- Very low raises and not rewarded for "exceeding expectations
- Managers tend to get lazy and frustrated and not teach the seniors as much as some would expect
- Management says that they want to make changes but do not always keep to their reward

Comments

You will gain a good background as a Staff and Senior. However moving up in technical knowledge gets difficult as pressure to learn is not there and after first year senior, there is no more specific trainings for you until manager. Management also needs to stop taking away the budget for Happy Hours and other events that give back to the staff.

There is a decent amount of flexibility. Jeans every day. PTO is comparable to industry

Downers

The pay is low. They bait you in with a starting salary on the high side. Then they will give you terrible incremental raises, even if you "exceed expectations."

Comments

From talking to my peers in other states, it seems that the firm is outstanding in the Midwest, but lacking in the northeast.

Accelerated career growth.

Comments

Overall, I believe the workload is very fairly distributed. I have time to train staff, serve my clients, and maintain my life outside of work. I'm fairly compensated and as long as my work is getting done, people seem okay with wherever its accomplished (home vs. office).

Comments

This firm has great people that are truly invested in you and your growth. Why start at a big 4 firm that you will likely just leave in 2 years? Baker Tilly is a firm I can see myself staying with until I retire.

A great place to work!
