While Above the Law showcases Sonia Sotomayor‘s moves on the dance floor, The Wall Street Journal highlights a far more provocative step on the part of our newest Supreme Court Justice. During oral argument in a campaign-finance case last week, Justice Sotomayor suggested that creating the legal fiction that a corporation is a person (and therefore entitled to rights afforded real human beings, such as free speech and equal protection) may have been judicial error. As Jess Bravin’s article notes, Sotomayor effectively issued a “challenge to a century of corporate law.” A decision in Citizens United v. FEC is expected by the end of the year.
