Partner Moves and Promotions: 2010 Year in Review via Cypres

With dozens of partner moves and a wealth of promotions, 2010 has had its fair share of activity on the senior level. The following is a list of some of the major partner moves and promotions, over the past six months, throughout Asia and the Middle East.

Beijing/Shanghai

July 

*Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP hired Don S. Williams as a partner for the firm’s corporate practice group in the Shanghai office. Williams has substantial experience representing both private and public companies across industries in an array of general corporate and transactional matters, including venture capital and private equity financings, public offerings and mergers & acquisitions.

August 

*Veteran litigation lawyer Michael Vella joined Jones Day’s Intellectual Property practice in Shanghai as a partner. Vella, formerly a partner in the Shanghai office of Morrison & Foerster, led the firm’s China litigation practice.

*Susan Deng joined Mayer Brown JSM’s employment and benefits practice in China as a partner. Deng had left Standard Chartered Bank (China) LimitedM, where she was a senior legal counsel specializing in employment matters. Dan Demba, Esq. joined Cypress Recruiting after practicing in both corporate and litigation capacities in Japan and New York. His dual undergraduate degrees and experience in Marketing and Human Resource Management give him a keen insight to the human resources activities of law firms as well as his understanding of the legal framework of Asia, having practiced in the region. Mr. Demba received his J.D. from Seton Hall University and his B.S. from the Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis.
