Last night, President Obama gave his 2011 State of the Union Address. The speech included several takeaways for the legal profession (unfortunately none of those included verbal jabs between the President and Supreme Court justices). Below are some of the legal highlights from the speech.

•President Obama welcomed reforms to tax law, medical malpractice, and Social Security.
•The President called for action on illegal immigration.
•He vowed to veto any bill that includes earmarks.
•President Obama discussed his health care law, agreeing to accept minor revisions to correct “flaws” but not larger changes.
•Surprisingly, in the wake of the Tucson shooting tragedy, the President did not discuss the hot topic of gun control.
•Six members of SCOTUS were in attendance: Chief Justice Roberts, Justice Kennedy, Justice Ginsburg, Justice Breyer, Justice Sotomayer, and Justice Kagan.
