Video from Vault's "Back to Work" event

Published: Feb 03, 2009

Faithful Pink Slipped readers will recall (and may have even attended) Vault's "Back to Work Event" at the New York Public Library last Tuesday. Linda summed up the event best in this space:

I learned that the displaced worker population is diverse and multi-talented. Many of you are in mid to late career, and are interested in major career changes. I learned that it wasn't just bankers or lawyers or corporate America seeking guidance, but also writers, masseurs, jewelry-makers, and trainers. I learned that the retired are feeling the need to return to the work force, and that people fresh out of college are feeling disillusioned and lost. And mostly, I learned that people need help.

If you weren't among the more than 1,000 people in attendance, we've now got your chance to catch up on what you missed with a few videos from the event.

First, a general overview of the "Back to Work" event, its goals and how it was made possible.

Next up, a few clips with our resident career counselor and go-to coach, Deb Wheatman. In this one she assesses the economic downturn that provided the impetus for 'Back to Work.'

In this clip, Deb talks about what makes the New York Public Library - and any library for that matter - such a valuable resource for job seekers

Finally, a few of Deb's most important tips for a successful job search.

So there you have it. If you couldn't make it out to "Back to Work," you now have a taste of the experience. If you did attend, we'd love to hear about your time there, what you gained, and what you'd recommend for future events like this one. As always, leave us a comment or fire over an email to PinkSlipped@vault.com.
