Stump the Intern

Q: I am going to cut right to the chase: I need a raise. By need, clearly I mean “want” but either way, it doesn’t matter. I know this isn’t the best time to be asking for one, but should I go ahead and do it?
Signed,
Who wouldn’t want to bring home more bread?
A: You’re right, who wouldn’t want a bigger paycheck? I won’t fault you for not reading our Pink Slipped blog this time, but if you did, you’d know that now is a perfectly good time to ask for a raise! From RecessionWire: “The truth is, it is always more expensive to hire and train a new employee than to keep the one you have happy and productive—and that doesn’t change just because we’re in a recession.” As you’re walking to your boss’s office with your knees knocking, remember this tidbit and you’ll feel yourself swelling with confidence. Good luck!
