Stump the Intern

Q: I am not in HR at my company, but we have a noticeable diversity problem in our office. While we have some “social” diversity—which in my mind means people of different religions, ages, sexual orientations, etc—we don’t have much racial diversity. We do have many female employees; I am one of them, and I’m pleased overall with how many women there are at the company. However, I am interested to find out what kinds of places have great diversity. Any ideas?

A: First of all, it’s great that you’re noticing the lack of diversity and you’re interested in doing something about it. I’m also glad to hear that, as a woman within your company, you feel that you are well represented. Here is Vault’s list of companies that are focused on diversity. Maybe you’ll be surprised to find your own workplace on there!
