Quote of the Day: Money vs Happiness

Published: Oct 12, 2009

“We have tracked the economic health of the nation for a long time … the reason we track those things is that the government is full of economists, not psychologists.”

“If we know money doesn’t buy happiness … why are we optimizing for money?” -- Adam D. I. Kramer, creator of a new Facebook app—the Gross National Happiness Index—quoted in The New York Times.

Sure, he might be talking about how governments (and, in many cases, individuals) measure self-worth, but those words could just as easily apply to a job search—we know money doesn't buy job satisfaction, but it's often the thing we pay most attention to when considering our next career move. Changing that focus can make the difference between finding a job and a passion.
