Quote of the Day: Find Out Who's Still a Hot Employer in the

Published: Nov 10, 2009

"It's easy to criticize startups […] but it's much harder to create one […] When Google was three months old, you would have laughed at them too, you would not have been impressed."—Don Dodge, former "Ambassador to Startups" at Microsoft, who was laid off last week, quoted in TechCrunch (via The Washington Post).

The article and accompanying video--which is excellent (and embedded below)—are a good insight into one of the top minds in the tech industry, not to mention someone who makes his living by having his finger squarely on the pulse of the latest innovations in the field. From the interview, it's clear that Dodge isn't going to have any problems finding a new employer, but the very fact that he can more or less choose wherever he wants to go makes his list of "innovative" tech firms (read: firms he'd consider working for) all the more fascinating: Apple, Google, Facebook and Twitter.

If that list seems a little short, how about one more quote from Dodge to explain his rationale in considering who he'd work for next: "You have to believe in what you do. I'm not a hired gun. I can’t just go to any random company and be their spokesperson. I have to believe in it."
