Palm-squeezing just got cheaper [Free Stuff Fridays]

Published: Sep 18, 2009

If you've paid any attention at all to the repetitive song we've been singing here at Pink Slipped over the last few months, you'll already know that networking is the key to a good (and hopefully short) job-search. If you're approaching it properly, you're probably out making all the contacts you can on Facebook, tweeting for all you're worth, and attending a ton of events to raise your personal profile and sell "brand you" to as many potential employers (or people who might know potential employers) as possible.

Now, one of the drawbacks about traditional networking (i.e. the act of tearing yourself away from a computer screen, bathing and getting out into world looking respectable) is that it can be costly. Many networking events have cover charges, others are at bars—where you're kind of expected to splash a few bucks—and there are, of course, the costs associated with showing up looking spruce. Thankfully, the folks at Vistaprint seem to have recognized that, and are offering a deal to help you defray the costs of all that palm-squeezing a little: 250 free business cards. With a choice of 45 designs, and the opportunity to fully personalize the card, you're sure to find something that'll fit your personal style—as long as paying the shipping is part of that style, of course!

While you're on the site, look around for other deals. At the time of writing (midday-ish on 9/18), there was a banner ad at the top of the site offering a whopping 80 percent off everything on the site if you ordered today. Perhaps you'd like some matching address labels to go with the cards? Or some really cheap "save the date" cards for a networking event of your own? Or…well…customized "Hire Me" T-shirts might be taking it a bit far, but you get the idea.
