Job Search Resource of the Week (8/25/09): Talk about it

Published: Aug 25, 2009

There's more to Vault than the avalanche of books, pdf files, surveys, company profiles, industry data (on law, consulting and finance), executive testimonials, corporate responsibility content, and insider comments on colleges and grad schools available through the web site. (Whew!) But we bet you didn't know that, aside from all that, the company hosts its own social interaction platform. So whenever the mood strikes, peek into Vault's Discussion Boards. They're anything you want them to be -- use them to compare benefits packages, get advice on cracking open the door, offer (or snag) a job referral, pick the brains of coworkers from other units of your company (away from the prying eyes of "Big Brother") or even air a grievance or two. (Complaining is always better when there's someone "listening.")

If you're looking for something in particular, you can narrow the scope of the conversations that appear by filtering them by company, region, career topic, industry or educational status. Sign on, and don't be afraid -- none of your MySpace/Facebook/Twitter friends need know what you're up to.
