In Case You Missed It: Week of October 19, 2009

Published: Oct 23, 2009

So how's it goin'? Busy polishing up your resume, or getting in those last networking emails for the week? Thought so. Since you've got a few minutes to spare, take a gander at our recap of the week's bestest items.

We started out on Monday with a word about two people who were likely to have a worse week than you: that balloon guy and Raj Rajaratnam. On Tuesday, we explained the obvious (something to do with employers not yet hiring actual employees) and advised you that it's a great time to explore your Itch to Switch.

Wednesday arrived with the news that Google is hiring again; we also brought you an interview with CIGNA's Senior Director of Talent Acquisition, who said, among other things, that a. CIGNA's hiring and b. the company looooves anyone who possesses "leadership attributes."

A New York Times item (on a $13-an-hour position that generated 500 inquiries in Salt Lake City) yielded a Quote of the Day which dominated Thursday, while providing four valuable (if well-covered) lessons in job search technique.

Finally, earlier today, we warned you of Hulu's evil plan to start taking your money next year, even as we offered you a free piece of chicken and a book as consolation. We also told you about one holiday-time job that's temporary, yet potentially quite lucrative (only those that are especially enthusiastic about their bathroom time need apply).

Have a great weekend!
